A Christmas Tradition

Making a gingerbread house is such an enjoyable experience in our family that we do it year after year. We are all growing older and some even have kids of their own, but it keeps the inner child smiling on christmas eve to create this oldie but a goodie.

Chocolate and Cream Wedding

This wedding was truly mouth wateringly sweet. The cream and chocolate colours flowed through the wedding like a chocolate fountain of love! From the ceremony with beautiful brown bows tied on cherubs surrounded by cream orchids, to the lovingly crafted chocolate wedding cake this day was a nice change from pink (and that is a huge thing for little Miss Pink to say!). It was held at Goldstone House http://www.goldstonhouse.com.au/ which is renowned for amazing weddings. P.S They have an amazing bubble machine that kept all the kids entertained during the congratulations hugs and kisses.

Cupcakes for a Hens Party

These cupcakes from cupcake parlour were a delicious treat at my cousin's 1950's themed hens party. If you are to taste the srummy cakes, try the Mr Jaffa or the Fluffy Bunny, they take the cake... so to speak. wink. If you are wondering why cupcakes are what I have mentioned for a hens party...... who doesnt like a tasty naughty treat.

Jungle Themed 2nd Birthday

The typical jungle/animal themed party is a fun way to celebrate a birthday. My daughter had her 2nd birthday surounded by people dressed as their favourite animal and loved it. The cupcakes we made were from the womans weekly kids cakes cookbook. My daughter had the best time turning the pages of the beautifully illustrated cake book to choose these cakes. She also chose the Giraffe cake pictured above. It was relativley easy to make... and fun too. The snakes in jelly were a great touch (but word of warning make them on the day as the snakes go soggy). The little goody bags were hung on a old branch in a pot. They were made of animal material with a simple draw string. All had an animal stamp, little plastic creature and some animal shaped lollies hidden inside. Face paints are also a good idea to have at a party for those kids or parents who really want to get into the mood of the party. You can find heaps of tips online or just copy a picture you like. http://www.beauty-and-the-bath.com/animal-face-painting.html has some good photos to use as a guide. I think the main point to having any party for a young child is just let your imagination run free. Free your inner child and have fun!

Lake Windermere UK Best Tea Experience

I was lucky enough to have high tea at The Old English Hotel. We were holidaying right on Lake Windermere. Beatrix Potter lived near by and wrote most of her stories based on the animals she met in the lakes district. The swans were so beautiful there, I can see where she got her inspiration. I really enjoyed the high tea at this hotel. The view was amazing. The chairs soooo cushy. The tea just perfect. It is in my top five happy places in the world!

Friends Beautiful Wedding

One of my friends recently got married and I loved the way they decorated. It wasnt your everyday run of the mill boring wedding stuff, roses, cherubs etc. They made most of it themselves. There were bird cages on each table with paper cranes hanging inside. The birdcages were placed on top of circular mirrors which reflected the cranes and made it look magnificant in the candle light. The wedding gift for guests were beautiful little asian containers with almonds inside. Their cake was a krispy kreme cake, really effective and not nearly as dear as a over the top iced cake. (not nearly as yummy either). I loved this wedding. But what made it a happy memory were all their friends and mine sitting around the table having a good old laugh!
